The Bible says in John 4:24 that God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. Oft times worship receives a bad name. The word worship among our Independent Fundamental circles has a bad connotation. I would like to show you today what TRUE worship is. True worship is not the jump up and down "Praise and Worship" we see on television. True worship is not the contemporary movement of our young people today. Nor on the other side of the spectrum is worship going to a funeral and our church services being solely pomp and circumstance. Our fundamental circles have been filled with people who do not recognize what true praise and worship of our Almighty Unchangeable God really is. For sake of time and space I will not include all of the applicable scripture references nor the illustrations that may be appropriate. Rather I will leave you with the main points and a few extra thoughts.
I. Worship is a Presentation of Funds.
TITHE and OFFERINGS are worship. Just as Barnabas and the widow who gave all they had, so can we worship God with our money. Don't worry about what you think you're "able" to do. If God will give you a car, He will give you the means to use it. God won't give you anything he won't give you the means to use.
II. Worship is Praise through Music.
I don't have near enough time to go in depth with this. Realize that music prepares and softens the heart for the message. Don't skip out on the song service. Not only is that not pleasing to God, you miss out, and in turn cause yourself to SIN. "By missing the song service or even one song?" YES !!!!
III. Worship is Service.
This phrase will suffice. God through your pastor says, " _________________" You say, "God/Preacher I'll be there ON TIME!"
IV. Worship is Prayer
